Many participants in the Sudbury Santa Claus Parade use large transport trucks to tow their floats, and as a result, a safety concern has been identified as the route contains a tight turn for the drivers at one of the intersections along the route.
Several floats had to back up in order to make the turn onto Durham Street. This has raised a concern for the safety of the children and spectators at this location.
As a result, in consultation with the Greater Sudbury Police Service Traffic Management Unit, the route has been adjusted to eliminate this potential hazard and will no longer utilize Durham Street.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter. As I am sure you will agree, the safety of children and other spectators is extremely important.
Sincerely,
The Sudbury Santa Claus Parade Committee
