Join us for the Annual Junction Creek Festival & Trout Release on Saturday, May 10th, from 12–3 PM at Twin Forks Park! This family-friendly outdoor event honours the revival of Junction Creek, the return of life to the watershed, and the dedicated stewards who have made this progress possible.
The event begins at 12 PM by the creek with an opening ceremony led by Better Beginnings Better Futures – Indigenous Led Program, starting the day in a good way with drum and song, followed by opening remarks and a tobacco offering.
There will also be a special unveiling of a bronze sculpture by artist Tyler Fauvelle, commemorating the legacy of the late Dr. Jane Goodall and her involvement in the 2002 trout release, a defining moment in the watershed’s recovery journey.
Following the opening ceremony, the festival continues with an afternoon of family-friendly, hands-on activities along the creek. Enjoy trout releases, live reptiles from Science North, aquatic bug exploration, games, and more. Explore community booths, cool off with ice pops from Papaya Pops, and enjoy BBQ food and drinks available for purchase.
Admission is free, with an optional pay-what-you-can donation supporting Junction Creek programs. Bring your family and friends for an afternoon of learning, connection, and appreciation of the wildlife and waterways that make our community special.
